DIVERSITY
I am dedicated to actively seeking out and sharing stories from a wide range of voices and experiences. This commitment to diversity helps me create narratives that reflect the true complexity of my community.

SOURCING
As a publication, we maintain meticulous records of every person we interview, tracking how often each source has appeared in our publication to ensure balanced coverage. Our deadlines spreadsheet includes an audits tab with a color-coding system that automatically updates source names—highlighting those who've been interviewed twice yellow, and highlighting people who've appeared 3+ times (and are therefore "blacklisted") red—to encourage staff to seek out diverse voices.
KAISER PERMANENTE STRIKE
When I covered Kaiser’s national healthcare strike, I made it a priority to represent every affected perspective. I interviewed a union representative to capture the workers’ demands and concerns; I spoke with a student from my school who is a Kaiser patient to understand how the strike impacted our community; and after reaching out through all my connections for weeks, I was able to include insights from a physician at Kaiser who chose to remain anonymous due to fears of retaliation. This approach ensured a well-rounded story that highlighted the complexities of the situation while respecting the voices of those involved.
