LEADERSHIP
As a leader, I'm constantly striving to create opportunities for my peers to grow not only in terms of technical skills, but as leaders themselves. I prioritize leading my peers to produce impactful content while also fostering a positive and supportive environment within my publications' editorial teams, as well as within the staff as a whole.

MINI-LESSONS
One of the first initiatives I took as a newspub Editor-in-Chief was leading mini-lessons to help my staff improve key journalistic skills. This slide is taken from a presentation on camera basics, for which I focused on creating visually appealing slides that translated technical jargon into accessible language that covered key concepts. The results I saw were great! I received feedback that the staff as a whole knows more about DSLR settings than at any point in the past few years, and hopefully I inspired staff members to take initiative in practicing their photography skills.
1-ON-1 SESSIONS
To help new staff members navigate the steep learning curve that comes with joining El Estoque’s staff, I introduced a system of 1-on-1 help sessions. Recognizing that public sign-ups could feel intimidating, I created a private form that allowed staff to request guidance discreetly. This way, new members receive personalized support on skills that took me years to master through trial and error.

MAGAZINE PRODUCTION
Towards the end of each production cycle, creating our physical magazine starts when I take the lead in constructing the page plan, which requires strategically organizing content and assigning responsibilities. For our May 2024 issue — my first cycle as an Editor-in-Chief — I compiled all the pages of the magazine, meticulously reviewing and arranging them before sending the finalized magazine to our printing company. My leadership in overseeing production ensures our publication maintains a high standard of quality and consistency.
