ETHICS
I strive to verify every fact I publish and present information with clarity and fairness. In an era of misinformation, I believe it’s crucial to equip readers with the tools to think critically.
ANONYMITY IN SENSITIVE TOPICS
When reporting on the Stanford encampment protests, my co-writers and I honored participants’ requests to avoid publishing identifiable photos due to the potential disciplinary consequences they faced. This decision reflects our commitment to protecting sources involved in sensitive situations.
ADDRESSING MISINFORMATION
Given the volume of speculation and misinformation surrounding the protests, we focused our reporting on verifiable facts such as announcements and actions taken by Stanford administration, or historical context to the Israel-Hamas war. By emphasizing direct quotes from those involved and grounding the story in observable events, we sought to provide clarity amid a highly polarized topic.
COVERING CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS AND OPINIONS
Covering a politically charged and emotionally complex issue like the Israel-Hamas war required careful judgment. We included perspectives from both sides — each with ties to our community — and refrained from editorializing, instead letting the voices of our sources speak for themselves.
